Duane Charles Beasley

Duane Charles Beasley (78) passed away on January 17, 2020 with his family by his side.

Born in Belleville, Illinois, raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, Duane spent the majority of his life in Kingsport, Tennessee where he owned and operated Beasley- Carter’s Septic Tank Service. He was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.

In addition to being a devoted husband and doting father and grandfather, Duane was an accomplished banjo player. He performed on a Saturday gospel radio show and played with friends in downtown Kingsport. Duane and Lena were members of Kingsport Country Cloggers. Duane was also a founding member and former President of the Daniel Boone Region Antique Automobile Club of America. He had a love of collectibles. His pride and joy was his Grand Champion 1936 Ford 5-window Coupe and his 1981 Corvette which won the NCRS Top Flight Award.

Duane was a Major Adjuant/Treasurer in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He attended re-enactments and grave marker dedications. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. He was a Roadrunner for the Shriners with whom he took children to the Shriner’s Hospital.

The family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of the fourth floor of Indian Path Community Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Mildred Beasley. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Lena Beasley, as well as his sister Carol Bush (Kenneth), his daughter Vicki Painter (Brad) and grandsons, Alex, Dillon, William and John.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport on Monday, January 20, 2020, followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Owens officiating. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Virginia.
