Gloria “Jeannie” Butler Robertson

KINGSPORT - Gloria “Jeannie” Butler Robertson, 74, of Kingsport, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020.

Jeannie was born in Kingsport, TN, on July 27, 1945, to the late Bruce Edgar and Dorothy Louise Clifton Butler.  She graduated in 1963 from Lynn View High School, Kingsport, TN, and from Carson –Newman College in Jefferson City, TN in 1967 with a BS in Music Education.   Jeannie taught music from 1967 until 1969 in Sullivan County, TN school system.  She was an on-air announcer for WRGS Radio in Rogersville, TN from 1973 until 1975, and WKPT AM/FM Radio in Kingsport, TN from 1975 until 1979.  Jeannie’s last employment was as a contract medical transcriptionist for Brookside Medical Group in Kingsport for many years.

She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband, Harry M. Robertson, York Count, SC; beloved canine companion of 15 years, Taffy; and beloved feline companion of 10 years, Star.

Those left to cherish Jeannie’s memory are her brother, David Steven Butler and sister-in-law, Cathy Arnold Butler; niece, Carey Ann Butler Deyton and husband, Micah Deyton; great-nephew, Wyatt Deyton; great-niece, Sydney Kate Deyton; and lifelong best friend, Jody Yvonne Sturgill.

At Jeannie’s request, no formal visitation or funeral service will be held. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bridge Home No Kill Animal Shelter, Blountville, TN, or the Greater Kingsport Area Humane Society, Kingsport, TN.

The care of Gloria “Jeannie” Butler Robertson and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
