POWELL VALLEY, VA - Addison Stallard, age 99, died Friday, May 17, 2019.

A nearly-lifelong resident of Powell Valley, he was employed at Greever Motor Sales in Norton prior to ownership of the Nationwide Insurance Agency in Norton. Following retirement in 1982 he enjoyed crafting furniture and hundreds of other pieces in his woodworking shop, and playing guitar and singing with his wife Elizabeth. He and his wife enjoyed natural history pursuits and simple drives in the countryside.

He is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 78 years; daughters Sharon Daniels, Powell Valley, and Kay Johnson, Wytheville; son Jim Stallard and wife Patty, Wytheville; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother Victor, Scott Depot, West Virginia; sister Jean Lively, Johnson City, Tennessee; brothers-in-law Jim Hall, Kingsport, Tennessee, and Harold Witt, Wise. A neighbor, John Gilly, was his treasured friend for many years who assisted Addison in countless ways.

He was predeceased by parents Garland Stallard and Verna King; brother Sanford Stallard; sister Sibyl Byrge; daughter Patricia Grant; granddaughters Thomasa Clifton and Tanya Adams; and grandson Johnathan Parker.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, Va. Funeral services will be at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Monday, May 20, 2019, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am to travel in procession to the cemetery.
