I read carefully the article in Friday's Standard Examiner, Page A-9, entitled 'Romney Predicts 4 More Years for Trump', and double checked with other sources that Romney actually made the 2 comments I find so interesting; the sources validated the legitimacy of the reported comments.
1. He insightfully observed that..."Our Democrat friends are likely to nominate someone who is really out of the mainstream of American thought and make it easier... (for Trump to win). This is an alert from a wise politician that Democrats need to heed. Candidates and platform policies just to the left of Trump(ism) would be a winner; Bernie Sanders Progressivism is a high risk gamble which the Democrats do not need to take
2. He, possible unintentionally, said that "The future ...would feature Trump as America's leader at least for another six years". Romney seems to be predicting not only a Trump reelection, but alerting us that there could be more of the 'imperial Trump' who sees himself as not constrained by tradition and law and that some form of coup-de-etat is a real possibility.
It’s hard to believe...but so was Trump becoming president in the first place
