Mitchell Norbert Nicholas, 41, was sentenced Feb. 12 after being convicted on Aug. 22, 2019 on two counts each of mailing a threat to injure another person and threatening to murder a federal judge.
According to Western District U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesperson Brian McGinn, Nicholas was a Red Onion inmate serving a life sentence for a 2007 first-degree murder conviction in the Virgin Islands when he sent letters to Virgin Islands U.S. District Magistrate Ruth Miller and District Court Judge Curtis Gomez.
In his letter to Miller, Nicholas wrote, “Dear Ruth, You thought that I was a nobody. Now I must manifest my dream of your death. It is more fun when the prey knows it is being hunted. I am going to kill you! Patiently submitted, signed Mitchell N. Nicholas.”
To Gomez, Nicholas wrote, “Dear Curtis, You are a disappointment and must not be allowed to live any longer. I am going to kill you! Patiently submitted, signed Mitchell N. Nicholas.”
